Sustainable Aviation Fuel Replaces Kerosene Demand
The aviation industry stands at a critical juncture where environmental responsibility meets economic viability. For decades, conventional kerosene has been the lifeblood of global air travel, but the rising tide of climate change and stringent regulatory pressures are forcing a paradigm shift. Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is no longer just a niche alternative; it is rapidly emerging as the primary contender to replace traditional jet fuel, signaling a transformative era for the sector.
Market data reveals a staggering acceleration in SAF adoption. According to recent industry reports, the global SAF market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 35% through 2030. In 2023, SAF accounted for less than 0.1% of global jet fuel demand, a figure that seems negligible but represents a massive leap from previous years. Major airlines, including Delta, United, and Lufthansa, have committed to blending SAF into their operations, with some targets aiming for a 10% blend by 2030.
